Colours TV show Balika Vadhu is currently the most watched TV show in India. Balika Vadhu, which is the story about child marriages in India, is a big hit with audiences of all sizes and its recent episodes reached the TRP of 10 points consistently.
Balika Vadhu revolves around the household story of a rich traditional Rajasthani family in which a little girl Anandi has been married to a boy named Jagdish. There are a lot of twists and turns of emotion and ethics in the serial and its unique subject has caught with everyone.
“There are certain high points in the story which is disclosed slowly. Our show’s TRP was always growing slow and steady. Once that’s happening, such a growth is expected,” speaks producer Sunjoy Waddhwa. But at the same time the producer doesn’t want to take it easy, “We need to ensure that we now live up to these standards.”
The show helped the new channel Colours to close in on the leader Star Plus in the general hindi entertainment category, which corresponds to the highest percentage of TV viewers.
It reached the magic TRP of 10 during the broadcast of one of it’s episode in which the story a popular cast member’s death is being told.
The show won the Best Child Actress, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Fresh Face – Female and Best Actress in a Negative Role during the 2008 Indian Telly Awards. The direction and the storyline have been one of its biggest strengths.
It was also declared the Best Serial in the 2008 Indian Television Academy Awards.
