The Filmfare Award 2008 for the Best Actor went to Hrithik Roshan for his role in Jodha Akbar. Hrithik was always the favourite and he did a fantastic job in the epic movie.

Hrithik beat Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan for the coveted award. Jodha Akbar went on to win five Fimfare awards in different categories to make a clean sweep.

The other important awards included Best Actor in Supporting Role to Arjun Rampal (Rock On!) and Best Actor in Supporting Role to Kangana Ranaut (Fashion).

The award ceremony was held at the Yash Raj studios in Mumbai. The ceremony was hosted by Imraan Khan and Ranbir Kapoor in the first half and then Konkona Sen Sharma and Deepika Padukone took over from then as the new hosts.

Almost everyone in Bollywood was in attendance and the red carpet saw some serious action with lots of actresses going for fresh designer gowns than the traditional dresses they sported last year.

“Well, the highlight of today’s celebrity performances has to be Shahid and Abhishek Bachchan.” But who’s your favourite? “Shahid is my student and is my favourite. Junior AB is full of energy and both are hard workers. Not that others aren’t good but they are very special to me,” shared Shiamak Dawar on the red carpet in the middle of directing the star performances.

Rock On fame Farhaan Akhtar, who also won the Best Debutant Actor award, was dressed in a shiny black tuxedo and Arjun Rampal was wearing a Muskino.

“It’s really good to be nominated for Rock On! It’s a very special film for me and it’s nice to see it getting acknowledged with such a nomination.”

The Jaane tu… brigade was seen posing for the photographers together and were very excited to be attending their first award show.
