The lure of coming to the dream city and then see your dreams come true, is pretty big. And that’s why more and more movies are being made on the subject. Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luck By Chance‘ is one such movie which has the feel and emotions of a ‘some guy’ becoming ‘the guy’ in the industry.
Luck By Chance is a story of Vikram (Farhan) who comes from Delhi to Mumbai to make it big in the film industry. He’s a trained actor and a dancer but since skills are not the only things that can get you in the trade, he struggles in the city. There are friends and a girlfriend Sona (Konkona Sen Sharma) in his lives, who are sort of in the same league as him. Things start to happen for him when by chance his photographs reach the hands of a producer Rolly (Rishi Kapoor), who’s looking for a new hero after his present one Zaffar (Hrithik Roshan) leaves the movie in between.
Obviously, Vikram is selected and becomes a movie star. What follows is the usual chores like gossip magazines, star lives, left friends and new attitude towards life.
The movie rightfully captures the mood of the characters in different situations. What’s lacking is just the pace. Although, things happen at a fast pace but sometimes it feels like a standstill.
Farhan and Konkona have done a brilliant job. The guy is not known for his acting but in just two movies he’s shown his acumen. Isha Shravani also looks good on the screen. I was surprised about her height, as I had though she must be smaller. Those dancing moves have certainly helped her maintain a star figure.
One of big attractions of Luck By Chance, is the guest-star cast. You have the whole industry acting in a movie, one scene by another. SRK, Hrithik, Aamir, Abhishek, Akhsay Khanna, John Abraham and some elite directors and producers have graced the movie.
On the musical note, the music given by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is not that great. The songs seems to fill up the space just to get someone to buy the music rights. Don’t bother checking them out.
In all, the movie is entertaining and you should watch the movie. It’ll be a great time-pass.
