More than 50 Hollywood celebrities made pledges to keep America clean and green in the honour of the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. The pledges were made in a video produced by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, and presented to President Obama on his big day.
The video also premiered on popular social networking site, MySpace. You can watch it after the jump.
“There’s an assumption that this one man is going to take on his new job full-time and somehow wave a magic wand of change, and I don’t believe that to be true,” Kutcher, 30, told Reuters.
“I think that we have to be the leaders, and that’s not celebrities — I think that we as citizens have to be leaders of the movement that we want to create.”
The video features Hollywood bigwigs like ‘Desperate Housewives‘ star Eva Longoria, music producer P. Diddy, ‘Entourage‘ star Kevin Connolly, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes, rocker Anthony Kiedis, Beyonce Knowles, ‘Spiderman‘ Tobey Maguire and ‘Charlie’s Angels‘ actress Lucy Liu.
While Longoria swore off using plastic bottles, Lucy pledged to help environment while traveling in metro trains in New York.
