The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held last night and the celebrity stars who light up our daily lives with their talent, beauty and glamour were awarded for the work they had done in the past year.
There were some obvious choices and some surprises in the final results and nonetheless the event was a grand success and the showcase of human beauty was at its peak on the red carpet.
We bring to you a summarized photo coverage of the Awards ceremony:
Danny Boyle’s movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ swept the Golden Globes with four awards including the Best Movie and the Best Director and is sure to win the coveted Oscar. Its music composer, AR Rehman, became the first Indian to win a Golden Globe. It is a story of a young Indian (Dev Patel) who comes from the slums and goes on to become a millionaire by winning a TV quiz show.
“Your mad, pulsating affection for our film is much appreciated. Really, deeply appreciated. We never expected to be here,” said director Boyle.
NBC comedy series ’30 Rock’ won three Golden Globes including the Best TV Comedy to reign over the small screen. Written and produced by Tina Fey, the series was just preceded by HBO’s ‘John Adams’ which won four awards.
“I really know how very lucky I am to have had the year I had last year. If you start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet and you can find a lot of people who don’t like you,” Fey joked.
All the colours of fashion and glamour were on display on the red carpet with celebrities flaunting their ‘average Joe’s salary’ gowns and tuxedos. My personal favourite was Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, who looked quite chic in that red strapless Reem Acra evening gown and she surely ‘killed it’ on the carpet.
Irish heart-throb Colin Farrell won the Best Actor in a Comedy award for his performance in ‘In Bruges’.
Hollywood’s very own power-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were displaying their magic in the full. Brad was nominated for his movie ‘Curious Case Of Benjamin Button‘ and Angelina for ‘Changeling‘. Although they didn’t win any awards… they were sure the most-sought after for the paparazzi.
