Renowned Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala was robbed early Friday morning by his own security guard who held his wife Wardha at gunpoint. Sajid and his wife had returned home at around three in the morning when the incident happened.

Said Inspector Suresh Nalawade of Versova police station, “Sajid and his wife returned home early in the morning at around three and asked the watchman to retire for the night. It was at this time that the watchman, Prabhat, 24, thrust a revolver at her and demanded money and jewellery. Sajid quietly handed over Rs 10 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh.”

The investigation is on and the security agency from which the guard was hired is being questioned. The head of the agency, Shera, who is also the personal bodyguard of Salman Khan, is being interrogated for the possible connection with the robbery.

It is said that Prabhat was hired by the agency after he was denied admission in the UP police force. But, the agency didn’t verify the facts about the guy.

“Tripathi had submitted a bio-data to his employer, which contained sketchy details about his native place. The security agency didn’t verify the same. We are now facing hurdles in the probe,” a police official said.

Nadiadwala is known for producing the movies like Judwaa (1997), Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). He was previously married to actress Divya Bharti, whose death became a subject of national debate when she fell from her apartment in 1993.

Her present wife, Wardha Khan, is a journalist.
