Vidya has recently filed a criminal complaint against her 70-year old husband Netaji Bhimrao Salunkhe, a doctor from Australia, for torturing her mentally and physically. Sinha met Salunkhe on the internet in 2001 and got married subsequently.
“Sinha registered a complaint on Wednesday saying that her husband was mentally and physically torturing her following which he was arrested. They have been married for some time now and Salunkhe keeps travelling between Australia and Mumbai,” a senior police official from Versova police station said.
As a biography, Vidya Sinha was born on November 15, 1947 in Mumbai so her age is 61. She started modeling at the age of 18 and became a well-known personality in the city despite coming from a humble background. Her first movie was Rajnigandha, a low-budget film from the stable of Basu Chatterjee. The movie was a big hit and Vidya became a household name.
Her second movie Choti Si Baat was also a hit. She later worked in Pati Patni Aur Woh (1977), which was her first mainstream Bollywood movie. She has also worked in some TV serials like Bahu Rani, Kavyanjali, Zaara and Bhabhi.
In her personal life, Vidya got married at a very early age of 20, before her movie career had even started. Her husband, Venkateshwaran Iyer, died in 1996 following which she started her courtship with Netaji Salunkhe.
