Bollywood Shahinshah Amitabh Bachchan got one more book dedicated to him recently. The book titled ‘Bachchanalia‘, is based on a collection of pictures on Bachchan and his movies. The legendary actor was present on the launch of the book and the opening of Osian’s Publishing and Design House.
The book is written by noted journalist Bhawana Somaaya.
“I am grateful and very humbled by this release and I don’t deserve it but I am thankful to the publishers and to Bhawana Somaaya for bringing this book out,” said Amitabh Bachchan.
Also present in at the launch ceremony was Aamir Khan who was very candid with his speech, pointing out the fact that as a child he didn’t give Bachchan any chance of making to the industry.
He recalled that in 1970 Filmfare magazine had devoted an entire page on those who were struggling to make it big in films and had their photographs. “We all huddled over it, and from their looks in the photographs, we tried to predict who could make the grade in films and who would not. While pouring over the photographs, when we came to the one with an emaciated face, we kids and our housemaids had a hearty laugh and I mocked at the photograph, saying “Inko dekho. Ye bhi star banana chahata hai!” (Look at him. He also wants to be a star!),” Aamir said and continued coyly: “And that unlikely hopeful was Mr. Bachchan.”
The function was held at Tata Theatre in the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA).
