Believe me… even I didn’t wanna hear that after the movie got released yesterday. But, that fact is that ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ is nothing more than an average Bollywood movie. All the hype surrounding it will only get the advanced bookings and for sure, contrary to what Shah Rukh hopes, it’s not going to emulate the success of ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya’.
The problem is, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi works in patches. The first 30 minutes and the penultimate 30 minutes are the highpoint of the enterprise, but the screenplay in between doesn’t hold your attention. That’s the truth! In a nutshell, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is no Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. It’s not Mohabattein either. At best, it’s an average fare that may generate some curiosity initially, that’s it. You expect much, much more, but alas!
While that doesn’t sound good to me, the fact that newcomer Anushka Sharma has done a fantastic job… certainly lights up a few things.
Shah Rukh is seen in a completely new shade, what some people say, matches his age!
No, no, not at all. You don’t have to pity the bespectacled, Clark Gable-moustachioed Suri of Aditya Chopra’s new movie. In fact, the Amritsar-domiciled Suri is a soul brother to the mousy Clark-Kent-cum-Superman.
But, ya… since it’s a SRK movie, is more than enough of a reason for scores of his fans to go and watch it in the theaters.
