Femina Miss India Parvathy Omnakuttan told in her first interview after the Miss World peagent that she really thought she’d win the competition because she deserved the crown. Parvathy was the first runner-up in the competition which saw a Russian engineering student, Kseniya Sukhinova, taking the top spot.
” Frankly, there was nothing much going in my mind or heart. And I was really very confident that I will make it to the final three winners. But the moment results were announced, I was extremely shocked. I don’t know whether the most deserving one has won or not. “
Asked about the whole experience in Johannesburg, she says that she was extremely enthralled and it felt like her own country.
“It feels like being at home and I can see many similarities between my country (India) and South Africa. From warmth, hospitality to great cultures to having two most influential men – Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, it’s like being in my own country.”
Sukhinova, who was decided the winner by an esteemed panel of international judges, beat 108 other beauties to become only the second Russian to win the crown. Trindad and Tobago’s Gabrielle Walcott was the second runner-up.
