The biggest news coming directly from the box office window is that the sole release of lat week, Yuvvraaj, has failed to make any impact on the ticket counters. The movie is heading in the direction to be a flop and could garner only 35% in advance booking.

Salman 1 2

Considering that the budget of the movie was quite big (Rs. 40 crores) in terms of Bollywood standards, it looks like the combination of Subhash Ghai and Salman Khan is proving very costly to production company Mukta Arts.

“There were a lot of expectations from this film but it hasn’t lived-up to them at all. The usual weekend audience has come to watch the film but it hasn’t pulled any extra audiences to the theaters. Even though the film has big stars and was marketed well, it hasn’t struck a chord with the audiences,” said Inox Cinemas vice-president (distribution and programming) Utpal Acharya.

Yuvvraaj was released with over 1000 prints in the country.

On the hand, Dostana continues to do well in it’s second week. The gay comedy is doing an occupancy of 70% in the country and has started very well in the overseas markets too. The movie is in green and will continue to make money for the producers.

Golmaal Returns, which is already a hit in India, debuted at No.10 in UK and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi and EMI are wmongst the biggest flops of this year.
