Bollywood actor-turned-director Aamir Khan is on cloud nine these days. The actor reportedly got an invite from Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, for a dinner with her. She is currently here for The Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week 2008 celebrations.
A source from the Embassy of Sweden, Delhi said, “Princess Victoria invited Aamir Khan for a special dinner, at a hotel in south Mumbai. It all started after the Princess heard about Aamir’s work and watched his films. When the Princess decided to visit India, she personally conveyed her wish to the Swedish ambassador in India. The ambassador then got in touch with the actor, to make sure that the Princess’ wish was fulfilled,” said the source.
Apparently, it was Taare Zameen Par which caught Princess’s heart and she was so moved by the movie that she had to meet Aamir. Well… obviously, Khan was feeling like a king! Out of all the Bollywood biggies, he was the favorite one.
When contacted, he said, “I was honoured to receive this special invitation. I am very surprised that she is familiar with my work in particular.”
The dinner went quite well and Aamir was accompanied by his (lovely?) wife Kiran Rao. He gifted an antique lithograph to the Princess who in order gifted him a DVD collection of Sweden’s great Ingmar Bergman’s films.
