The much-awaited Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week(WIFW) kicked off in the Capital recently. The fashion scene in Delhi is sure to change with another Delhi fashion Week also going on in the city. This time, the show is bigger and better with over 160 buyers expected to take actions.
”This is the largest number of buyers that will be attending the fashion week,” Sunil Sethi, president of event organiser, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), told IANS.
With total business expected to touch $17 million… all the design labels are pretty excited. The 12th edition of the fashion week will have almost 10 commercial partners, 79 designers, 53 models and 36 ramp shows.
The main attraction was however the presence of Deepika Padukone for the first time. The beautiful lady presented the “Fiama Di Wills Beautiful Face Hunt 2008″ award on day two.
The other thing that was prominent in the first day of the tour was the showcasing of lots of colour and bling in the shows. While the whole world is reeling in the anticipation of a grand financial recession… there seems to be no effect on the fashion week.
“I think you should use more bling when the situation is grim to cheer you up,” said Ranna Gill, one of seven designers to showcase spring-summer collections on day one of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
Apart from Deepika, Sameera Reddy and Riya Sen also walked the ramp for designers Falguni and Shane Peacock’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
