While it may be called as the reel-life story of Baba Saheb Thakery mixed with the elements of the Enron saga… Sarkar Raj is sure to make quite a much buzz at the media offices, if not the box office.
The story of the intense political drama revolves around Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai), CEO of Sheppard power plant, an international Company wanting to set up a power plant in rural Maharashtra and the Nagres, regional protagonists.
While Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan) rejects the idea, his son Shankar Nagre (Abhishek Bachchan) is sure, the plant will only bring benefit for their people.
The inter-mix of politics, power and love is what will drive the entire movie.
The movie is also being promoted as the first movie together by Abhishek and Aishwarya… but I doubt, it will do any good to a film, which is certainly not a romantic story.
When asked about their on screen chemistry in Sarkar Raj, Aishwarya quickly replied “There’s is no onscreen chemistry in Sarkar Raj as there is no romantic equation between the two charactersy. But yes, we have great chemistry off screen.”
Though it’s prequel, Sarkar was inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Godfather, but the sequel will be completely original. The movie is in a way different that it is Ram Gopal Verma’s most ambitious project till date.
Recently, a mobile game based on Sarkar Raj was also launched.
You know, I don’t do reviews often, but will sure keep a good watch on this one’s release on June 6.
