kajol shomu

Right Bollywood pays homage to Shomu Mukherjee, actress Kajol’s father, who passed away on Thursday following a massive cardiac arrest. Shomu was 65.

Mukherjee is survived by wife Tanuja and daughters Kajol and Tanisha.

What’s ironical is that his death occurred on the eve of the release of Ajay Devgan’s directorial debut ‘U Me aur Hum‘. But family sources say the movie will release as per schedule.

The filmmaker hadn’t been keeping well for sometime and had to be hospitalised as well. He breathed his last at his home in Mumbai.

Shomu was the youngest son of Sashadhar Mukherjee (famously known as the founder of Filmistan studios), the other two being Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. He had directed and produced many movies including “Ek Baar Muskura Do” (1972), “Nanha Shikhari” (1973), “Chaila Babu” (1977), “Fifty Fifty” (1981), “Pathar Ke Insan” (1990) and “Sangdil Sanam” (1994).

The last film that Mukherjee had directed was Sang Dil Sanam starring Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala.

It’s really a shocking news for the beautiful actress Kajol, who’s been very excited for the past few days, given the release of hubby Ajay’s movie. Let’s hope the family stays strong among these turbulent times.
