“Dirty Dancing” star Patrick Swayze was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs and he has five weeks left to live, according to the National Enquirer.
Patrick Swayze is fighting for his life in a California hospital.
Patrick was reportedly diagnosed with the disease in January and immediately checked into Stanford University’s cancer centre in Palo Alto, California for a gastro-intestinal procedure.
Swayze, 55, is said to have undergone three doses of chemotherapy, which has helped shrink a tumor in his pancreas. But doctors are not optimistic they will kill the cancer.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short–they held out little hope for a cure.”
The report stated that he has already lost 20 pounds in the last couple of weeks, and is only allowed a liquid diet.
He will apparently go through a few more treatments but things are not looking good to say the least.
Swayze’s breakthrough role came as a dance instructor in 1987’s Dirty Dancing. In the early ’90s he starred opposite Demi Moore in Ghost and with Keanu Reeves in action movie Point Break. His recent work includes Donnie Darko and the upcoming Jessica Biel film Powder Blue.
