The night of the Filmfare Awards 2008 was surely the one to be remembered. With all the glittering and glamour, the awards truly portrayed the right spirit of Bollywood.
Why I’m so happy about the whole thing is because I got three out of my four predictions, correct!
Shah Rukh Khan did win the best actor, Taare Zameen Par did win the best movie and Aamir Khan did get voted the best director… what I got wrong was Aishwarya not winning the coveted best actress award. Instead, Kareena got the honour for Jab We Met.
I think, that was because Aish was over-shadowed by Abhishek in Guru.
Anyways… the 53rd Fair One Filmfare Awards goes down in history as yet another one to be remembered and cherished.
The tight security within the premises of Yashraj Studios, the elegance of the red carpet, the presence of stars who ensured that not a strand of hair was out of place at this very formal black tie event only added to the seriousness and elegance of Filmfare.
Ably hosted by the sober Vidya Balan and Karan Johar, the crazy but intelligent co-hosts Shah Rukh and Saif were the ‘dudes of the evening’. Their wit coupled with their ability to be very rude may have got them on the wrong side of many-a-person, but they surely found a place in the good books of audiences.
Besides, those who were present, those who were missing were equally mega in their status.
The Bachchan family, who have always attended the Filmfare awards, were missing from the scene. Same is true for Salman Kahn, Rani Mukherjee, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif.
The great SRK, after winning the award, said, “We’re not here to win awards. I only like to entertain, and when I make someone smile I feel happy.”
Looking regal in a black off-shoulder Gauri and Nainika gown, Deepika Padukone, who won the Fresh Face of the Year, was unperturbed with all the attention coming her way.
Deepika confesses, “Its hardly any attention. I am looking for more. It always feels nice to see people recognizing you on the streets. And my head is planted firmly on the ground because of the upbringing that I have got”.
