The annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards nominations and the venue have been announced today. The IIFA 2009 awards will be held at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel at Macau from May 11th to 13th. The three-day long weekend will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event.

‘2009 celebrates a decade of IIFA magic and promises to be yet another enthralling experience to be held at the Venetian Macao. It is an excellent choice for IIFA’s celebrations and we are excited to bring its magic to that fabulous city,’ said Amitabh Bachchan, the IIFA brand ambassador.

The Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd company, which organizes the event every year, is planning to unveil a lot of surprises this year.

‘We are proud of IIFA’s progression over the last 10 years. It is heartening to see IIFA’s achievements over the years and we are glad to see the event celebrating a decade of magic,’ said Sabbas Joseph, one of the directors of IIFA.

The nominations have also bee announced and not surprisingly, Shahrukh Khan leads the list for his movie ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Aamir Khan has also got his fair share for Ghajini.

On a different note, Jodhaa Akbar, which got maximum awards in almost all the notable domestic award events this year… features with very few nominations in the list.

Previous editions of the event were held in Britain, South Africa, Singapore, Dubai and Thailand.
