“I thought I would start the first write up by detailing the threshold and culture of this franchise. That would have been apt if we hadn’t started playing. Right now, as I write at 5 a.m. in Cape Town, having lost yet another game, which we could have won, the heart is heavy and the mind is numb. Full marks to Rajasthan Royals for proving that a true champion team does not choke at the finish line. Congratulations guys.”

Kolkata Knight Riders, or KKR, as they are popularly known as, have now lost two matches out of their four so far, with one match being washed away due to rains. Many people had condemned bad captaincy as the reason for defeat in the last match which went on till a tiebreaker.

But, SRK obviously has different views, being a father-like figure to the team.

“I treat this team as I treat my own children. I am quite a doting father and perhaps a bit too emotionally involved with all the things my team goes through. I feel like crying when they lose and go wild with happiness when they win. Throughout the tournament last year, my only concern was that the team members should not in any way feel sad or bad after the losses we suffered.”

Shah Rukh says that he will continue to blog throughout the tournament and he hopes to see his team winning the next few games to bring back their campaign on track.

Meanwhile, SRK was the target of a recent protest by The National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) after he was shown smoking a cigarette on the TV screen during the IPL match on April 21st. They have asked the South African counterparts to take the situation seriously and act accordingly.

However, all that they got in reply was that there is no law banning smoking in sports stadiums in South Africa.
